    VP commissions mosque/Freetown

    May 28, 2014. The Vice President of the Republic of Sierra Leone Alhaji Abu Bakarr Sidiki Sam Sumana on Friday 16th May 2014 commissioned the Ihsan Mosque sponsored by the International Foundation for Humanitarian Aid Elazig Turkey at Lower Personage Street Kissy. Delivering his keynote address, the Vice President Alhaji Sam Sumana described the commissioning as a history in the progress of Islamic belief as the country continues to experience Islamic growth. He emphasized that Sierra Leone believes in religious tolerance and allows everyone to share their belief as long as they believe in the creator as the Muslims believe in Allah and worship Him freely. Alhaji Sam Sumana said the Islamic population continues to grow and the doctrines of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW), continues to spread in our beloved country. He prayed that all will continue to carry out the message and to do what the message asks us to do as Islam commanded us to be each other’s keeper. The Vice President commended the International Humanitarian Aid based in Turkey for providing life for the people of this country and stressed that this is a great example as all can attest to the long time people usually take to construct a Mosque but they made the difference by building the Mosque in less than four months. He opined that despite listening to sermons in the various Mosque, people are still not emulating the teachings of Islam in their homes as the dress code of our children are too bad especially for our sisters wearing very short dress and called on them to stop being hypocrites. He stressed that cleanliness is very important and pray that the Mosque will be given good outfit at all times and urged the International Aid to continue helping the people of this country by providing more humanitarian assistance and on behalf of His Excellency the President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma and the people of this country he declared the Mosque open. Mr. Ihsan Dagoglu gave a brief overview of the organization which was founded two (2) years ago and work in different parts of the world like Rwanda, Ghana, and Togo etc. He pledged his organization’s support in supporting the landscape and to construct other facilities that will add to the facelift of the Mosque. Mr. Dagoglu disclosed that due to the hospitality received from the Vice President and people of Sierra Leone, he announced that he will provide a Modern Educational School in Sierra Leone, which he had intended to build in another African country. Mr. Dagoglu stressed the importance of cleaning the environment, for it is very important as an Islamic building it is supposed to be clean and tidy at all times. Mr. Salman Jalloh on behalf of the disable thanked the donor for their generous contribution as they will be able to offer their prayers, which they were finding very difficult to do before. He appealed to the Government of Sierra Leone to help them with the rehabilitation of the road, as the road is too bad.
